During the whole Balloon week, more than 60'000
spectators come the Château-d'Oex and about 150 journalists from
the world cover the event. The vast majority of the balloon week spectators
are day trippers, and naturally the weekends are the most popular.

The Beau SejourOld style grand hotel right opposite the railway station and handy for the ski lift and 5 min walk the balloon field. You can sit in the lounge where Richard Branson, Steve Fosset , and Bernard Picard had a historic meeeting on the occasion of the Breitling Orbiter take off . Other past guests included Cary Grant and David Niven. Swiss/French meals are served in the lively bar/restaurant. Reasonably priced: Half board cost around £40 per person per night in Jan 2001 |
